Let me ask you a question – would you go to any dentist in any town for your routine check-up? Are you happy to go to any hairdresser who has an appointment? The answer will be no! – we do business with those we like, know, and trust!

As customers we want to know if we can ‘like, know, and trust’ the companies we buy from, so in this series we ask the person behind some of my favourite natural and organic companies to step out into the spotlight.

It’s the turn of Helen Patey from The Holistic Emotional Healer.

Tell us about yourself and your company…

I work with people to move past challenges and difficulties when they experience anxiety, stress, self-esteem, grief, relationship issues and self-esteem issues. I use the Theta Healing® technique to address thoughts, feelings and limiting beliefs that hold people back from recovery and help them create a future that they can step into.

I live in Berkshire, am married to Michael and own a really cute shih-tzu rescue dog called Tilly.

How did you get started?

Originally I experienced the benefits of Theta Healing® as the solution to my own emotional wellbeing. I was turning 40, had experienced a lot of traumatic things in my 20’s and 30’s and had reached a turning point. I’d tried a lot of different therapies and was completely blown away with Theta Healing® how good it made me feel about myself and past events in a short space of time. Cheesy as it sounds I knew I wanted to help people find the happiness I found through Theta Healing® so decided to close down my business and go to the United States to train. I set up my business after my first visit.

What were you doing in a previous life?

I was a Human Resources Consultant running my own business working with large Corporates and the Public Sector in the UK and abroad.  I travelled a lot.  I spent 7 years doing that and the previous 7 years in a variety of generalist and project management in-house HR roles focusing on Change Management.

Why natural / organic / sustainable?

I had experienced many emotional struggles myself in the past and tried a plethora of traditional and alternative approaches to try and help me over the years with partial or no effect at all.  I started finding out more about natural and holistic remedies and the natural way suited me personally far better.  I knew there would be other people who had also given up on ‘mainstream’ treatment or didn’t want to go on medication. I felt they wanted something that wouldn’t just mask their symptoms but made long term changes for them. It was completely evangelical for me to set up The Holistic Emotional Healer; the natural way was for me and I knew others would benefit from my approach too.

What’s your USP? What sets you apart from your competitors?

I focus on helping people who are troubled by things such as anxiety, stress, depression, grief, relationship problems and self-esteem using Theta Healing®. I like to think I am the Girl Next Door and appealing to people in the mainstream who may be unsure about holistic and complimentary therapy. I made the transition and I like to work with others who want to do the same. I am about bringing an alternative approach to the mainstream market who may also consider traditional counselling and psychotherapy or those who have not found success in using these methods.

What kind of feedback you have received from clients?

A recent example of client feedback is an amazing client of mine – Sophie who came to see me for the first time this September. In her mid 40’s and working in a high-pressure career with a young son, she has experienced a lot of things in the past couple of years. She had been going through traditional therapy and was not feeling any different so she got in touch. She has just completed her sessions with me at the clinic and I’ve seen such a marked change in her approach to life. She wrote this lovely testimonial for me “I had a lot of issues to get through following the death of my mother, dealing with cancer and infertility, among other serious issues.  They all hit at once.  Helen helped me find coping mechanisms using a holistic approach. After my fifth session I felt much calmer and able to deal with matters.”

What’s the next big launch / project coming up for you?

I’ve got a ‘New Year, New You’ therapy package coming up to help people get into therapy after the festivities and spread the cost of treatment after the expense of Christmas.  I have a project which will happen during 2017 to bring Holistic Emotional Healing to more people in both an accessible and affordable way.  I can’t give too much away yet but it’s very exciting!

What’s your big dream?

Holistic Emotional Healing isn’t something we do once; it’s a way of life.  I wish to bring this to people in an integrated and accessible way for life long mental wellbeing. Oh, and I’ve got a book I want to write too!

Where can we find you?

I work from The Charterhouse Clinic; a leading holistic and integrated health clinic in Central London. I also work online, providing interactive web-based appointments for people who are too busy to visit my clinic and prefer the flexibility of having an appointment at home or on the move.
