How do you boost your immunity? It is so critical especially at this time of year to ensure we don’t catch every infection going around.
I really do believe that good immunity starts with the gut and we should do everything we can to ensure that we are populated with the ‘good guys’ – the good bacteria that is. Most people are aware of the importance of replacing probiotics if – god forbid – it’s been essential to take antibiotics, but in addition to eating a nutrient rich diet we should consider boosting immunity with Goats Milk Kefir. It has a high probiotic value and it’s a medicinal food made the traditional way and you get dozens of beneficial micro-organisms.
For Kids go for Viridian’s Synbiotic Children’s Powder, an expert vegan, dairy free formulation for good gut bacteria, it also features buffered Vitamin C, beneficial for the function of bones, cartilage, skin, gums, teeth and immunity. It tastes pleasant enough so kids will take it and can be added to drinks or mixed into cold foods.
I’m SO ‘anti the antibacterials’ that I also avoid antibacterial hand washes; (it’s easy to make your own using a little castile soap with a few drops of Eucalyptus or Tea tree oil added). For cleaning, ditch the chemicals and opt for totally natural cleaning products such as the traditional balms and the great multi-surface spray from Mangle and Wringer.
It’s well documented that we have a northern hemisphere epidemic of Vitamin D deficiency and it’s almost impossible to get the amounts we need from sunshine during the winter so I’d highly recommend an oral supplement, the BetterYou Dlux 3000 spray is a great choice.
One of the best immune boosters is Live Wheatgrass – I consider it my health insurance. Pop one of the frozen shots into a green smoothie and you will be ‘powered up’ for the season.
Raw Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is rich in lauric acid; one of the main components of breast milk and so is great for immunity. It’s also made up of caprylic acid, a fatty fat, which contains anti-fungal and antibacterial properties to boost the immune system. The absolute best is Raw Cold Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil and just a spoonful a day can have a great effect on your overall health, use in nutritional drinks, in porridge, in cooking or straight from the spoon!
Laugh a lot!
It’s proven the happier you are, the better your immunity, make sure you have masses of cuddles and fun, hole up on a freezing cold day with a family hilarious comedy movie – laughter is the best medicine!
