Ditch the New Year resolutions!
How about just setting out to be the best you can be – for you in 2021!
Instead of setting yourself a list of ideals to reach, it’s a lovely idea to choose a word to focus on, how do you want to feel this year? What can you begin/do more of/return to, in order to feel happy and thriving?
If you are considering giving up the booze (even if it’s just for Dy January) or if you do want to focus on optimum health and wellbeing underpinned by not drinking alcohol, then one mantra I repeat a fair bit is ‘Keep the Ritual Change the Ingredients’ – you definitely don’t want to feel deprived, and you don’t need to! There are so many options now for delicious alcohol-free drinks and we have some to give away in our competitions here if you’ve not entered yet then do so to be in with a chance of winning some brilliant prizes.
I have been sober now for three years and in the beginning when I finally caught sight of the ‘elephant in the room’ that was booze, I literally inhaled ‘quit lit’ and podcasts, but there wasn’t much that went beyond the ‘I’m sober… now what?’
So, as you know I launched The Sober Club and my ‘Alcohol Free Life’ podcast and now I’m so excited to be launching my new book ‘Happy Healthy Sober’ which is out NOW in different ebook formats (paperback launches 11th February) which I hope will inspire others to look at their relationship with alcohol and ditch the booze to live their best life.
This book shares my story, gives a 30-day challenge (you don’t have to be at rock bottom to benefit from ditching the booze) and has a huge section on wellbeing, with some amazing expert contributors on topics such as nutrition, therapies, creativity, anxiety, the menopause, meditation, fitness, et al. The foreword is by the wonderful Denise Welch who was one of my podcast guests and has been so open about how she got sober and the impact it had on her clinical depression.
